Varsity Boys' Basketball team builds camaraderie off the court

On February 29, several boys’ varsity basketball players, coaches and their families attended the Utah Jazz vs. Boston Celtics NBA game in Boston, Mass. The trip was one of many the team has taken together over the Varsity basketball players at the Celtics game on February 29past year, in an effort to build a better team on the court.

"We believe that part of being a great team is spending time together to bond and get to know each other,” said Head Coach Jeff Huneau. “Bringing the guys together outside of practices and games lets them loosen up and have fun together beyond the game.”

Before the Celtics game the team went on the court and also sat courtside for 20 minutes while players on both teams warmed up.

In addition to the Celtics’ game, the group caught the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Brooklyn Nets preseason game at the Times Union Center last October, and also attended a UAlbany vs. Binghamton game at SEFCU Arena in January.

The team also went to Joe’s Tavern for pizza after a practice in November, and went to see the movie, “Creed” in December.

Jeff Huneau has been coaching basketball in Cohoes for the last 19 years, serving as boys’ varsity head coach for the last 13. This year, the boys’ varsity basketball team had a season record of 7-13.
