Cohoes Rotary in search of host families

Exchange student from Brazil to study at Cohoes High School in 2017-18

May 30, 2017—For the first time in many years, Cohoes Rotary Club will host an exchange student from Brazil in the 2017-18 school year. The young man, from Pairaba, is looking for three host families within the city of Cohoes to split time during the long-term exchange (from August 30, 2017 – July 2018).

Hosting an exchange student can be incredibly rewarding and brings an international experience directly into the home. Host families provide room and board and share their lives with exchange students, involving them in family, community, and cultural activities. All host families are screened and trained.

More about the Rotary exchange program:

Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens. Exchanges for students 15 to 19 years old are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries.

What are the benefits?

Exchange students unlock their true potential to:

• Develop lifelong leadership skills
• Learn a new language and culture
• Build lasting friendships with young people from around the world
• Become a global citizen

Long-term exchanges last a full academic year, and students attend local schools and live with multiple host families.
