Cohoes High School teacher placed on administrative leave

September 12, 2016

To all parents, staff and community members:

Cohoes City School District administrators learned today that a high school English and PAGE teacher— employed by the district for one year — was indicted in Albany County Court on charges related to an incident that occurred at LaSalle School in Albany, her former employer.

Our first concern is for our students’ safety. There is no indication of any inappropriate conduct involving Cohoes students.

This teacher has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately and will not be returning to the classroom. A certified substitute teacher will be in the classroom beginning Tuesday morning and counselors will be available to talk with students or staff who may have questions and concerns about this news.

As educators we are obviously shocked and dismayed by this news. PAGE students and their families, as well as all faculty and staff at Cohoes High School are being contacted so they are aware of this information before they return to classes tomorrow.
