October 5, 2016—At the conclusion of yesterday’s bomb threat evacuation, school administrators learned of a student in possession of a carbon pellet gun. Administrators immediately informed police officers and a subsequent investigation led to the confiscation of the pellet gun at the student’s home.
Three students were involved in the incident. All were disciplined in accordance with the school’s code of conduct. This offense is also subject to criminal charges.
This incident was unrelated to the bomb threat that forced yesterday's evacuation.
We will continue to maintain and enforce our zero tolerance policy prohibiting guns and weapons of any sort from being brought into our schools and/or to school sponsored events.
It is important that we (parents, students, staff and law enforcement officials) continue to work together to keep our students safe and our schools weapon free.
