How we’ll communicate weather-related closings and delays

With winter weather right around the corner we wanted to share how a delay or school closing will be communicated.

Any changes to the school day will be communicated through ParentSquare, the district’s mass notification system. The message will also be posted on our website and through local media outlets.

Delays are typically two hours:

Elementary Schools

Two-hour delay start time: 10:45 a.m.

Middle School

Two-hour delay start time: 10:05 a.m.

High School

Two-hour delay start time: 9:50 a.m.

In the event of a delay, breakfast will not be served.

If a snow day is determined, students and staff will not be expected to report to school.

Morning closings or delays will typically be communicated by 6:00am. Whenever schools are closed for emergency reasons after school activities will be canceled.

It is best to rely on more than one source of information when it comes to weather-related announcements. This is particularly true in situations that involve power outages, which can affect the district’s ability to send mass notifications.

In order for us to communicate effectively please make every effort to keep your school’s main office informed of any changes to your contact information.

Please remember that neighboring districts have differing needs and challenges, and may make different decisions regarding delays and closings. Whenever our schools are closed for weather-related reasons, all after-school activities will be canceled.

Preparing our students for success in tomorrow’s world.
