Jeff Huneau, who has taught in the Cohoes City School District for more than 15 years, has been named the district’s new athletic director. The appointment was announced at Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting.
“Jeff is a longtime dedicated Cohoes teacher and coach who is beloved by the community. We are so thrilled to have him leading the athletic program,” said District Superintendent Jennifer Spring.
Huneau is currently in his sixth year teaching social studies at Cohoes Middle School. Prior to that, he taught at Abram Lansing Elementary School for 10 years. He has also served as the men’s varsity basketball coach for 13 seasons.
“I am honored and very excited to work in collaboration with both our coaches and athletes to maximize our potential and to continue to develop great pride in our athletic community,” said Mr. Huneau.
Huneau will transition to his athletic leadership role beginning the week of January 15 and will continue teaching social studies part-time.
