Spending plan for ARPA-ESSR funding
In response to the devastating economic impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief Fund (ARP/ESSER) stimulus package. The Cohoes City School School District is slated to receive $6,997,869 as part of the ARP/ESSER funding and $700,000 as part of the ARP/ESER State Reserve funding.
Needs assessments were completed with building level teams consisting of administrators, teachers, support staff and parents. Public comment was then sought from parents/guardians, teachers and other stakeholders on the plan and taken into account in the finalization and submission of the plan to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) in fall 2021.
Funding will be used toward sustaining safe operations of Cohoes schools while addressing academic, social, emotional and mental health needs of students resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As required by state education law, the district maintains an ARP ESSER Plan and ARP/ESSER State Reserves plan and must post this plan on its website. This plan is designed to outline how these funds will be used.
If you need assistance accessing the plan, please email the District Clerk at mrumsey@cohoes.org or call at 237-0100 ext. 2350. If you have questions about the plan, please contact Superintendent Peggy O’Shea at 518-237-0100, option 6.
Copies of the plan are also maintained at Central Office, 21 Page Avenue and at all the school buildings.
