It can be said that Kyle McFarland has come full circle.
At its September 21 meeting, the Cohoes City School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Mr. McFarland as principal of Cohoes Middle School, the very spot where he started his career in educational administration in 2010 as the assistant principal/director of attendance.
“I fondly remember my time spent in Cohoes because of the caring and dedicated faculty, staff, students and community,” Mr. McFarland said.
Mr. McFarland comes to Cohoes with over 12 years of administrative experience, including eight years as a building principal. He is currently the principal/superintendent of the Minerva Central School District. His previous administrative roles include serving as principal of the Northville Junior/Senior High School for more than five years.
Mr. McFarland, who received his bachelor of science degree in sports biology from Springfield College and a master’s in education from The College of St. Rose, also taught middle and high school science.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. McFarland back to our Cohoes community,” said Superintendent Peggy O’Shea. “His experience as a leader, his knowledge of education and his dedication to students make him a great addition to our team.”
“Returning to be a part of Cohoes Middle School and the surrounding community fills me with great joy,” he said.
Please help us welcome Mr. McFarland who is set to start on October 3.
