District leaders were recently informed that in 2019-20 all Cohoes students will be eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for free under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Last year, only our K-8 students qualified under the parameters of the grant.
“This is fantastic news for all of our families,” Superintendent Jennifer Spring said. “Research shows that in school districts where breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge, students demonstrate better attendance, improved academic outcomes and improved behavior. CEP has been a successful program and we’re excited to extend it to the high school.”
CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. Students are enrolled automatically so there is no application process.
Breakfast and lunch menus for the month of September can be found on our Food Services page.
