Harmony Hill School on May 10 presented an oversized check in the amount of $2,695.17 to kindergartener Lucas Santoro, who accepted it on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Throughout the month of March, students, faculty and staff collected change for Pennies for Patients, a fundraising program that benefits LLS. The school’s fundraising efforts were inspired by Santoro, who is a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia after being diagnosed at the age of two.
Harmony Hill also held a “Stuck for a Buck” event, at which students and teachers each donated $1 for a piece of duct tape, which they used to collectively tape Principal Mark Perry and Lucas to a wall in the gym. That event raised $808.
