MINUTES

I. The Meeting was called to Order by the President, Mrs. Giller at 6:00 p.m.

VI. REPORT FROM MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

A. THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Board of Education Meeting of February 16, 2022.

B. THAT the Board of Education adopts the following policy:

1741, Homeschool Students

C. THAT the Board of Education approves a contract between Cohoes City School District and the Lansingburgh Central School District to provide health and welfare services to students residing in Cohoes and attending a school within the Lansingburgh Central School District during the 2021-2022 school year at a rate of $ 758.18 per student.

D.  THAT the Board of Education approves a contract between Cohoes City School District and the North Greenbush Common School District to provide health and welfare services to students residing in Cohoes and attending a school within the North Greenbush Common School District from September 8, 2021 and to end on June 24, 2022 at a rate of $ 274.77 per student.

VII. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT – PERSONNEL

Instructional

A.  THAT the Board of Education amend Item VII (J) of the February 2, 2022 Minutes to read as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District appoints the following individual as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, Tricia Kinns to a four – year probationary term in the tenure area of  School Social Worker effective February 7, 2022 and expiring on February 6, 2026.  Ms. Kinns holds Provisional  Certifications in the  area of School Social Worker.

  • Position:  Long-Term Substitute 1.0 FTE School Social Worker
  • Certification: School Social Worker
  • Tenure Area: School Social Worker
  • Effective Date: February 7, 2022 through June 30, 2022  Tenure Date: February 6, 2026
  • Salary: Step 1 of the current CTA contract

B. THAT the Board of Education amend item VII (C) of the November 17, 2021 minutes to read as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District appoints Jillian Egnaczyk to a four-year conditional term in the tenure area of Speech effective September 1, 2019 and expiring on October 12, 2023 November 23, 2023 on an emergency conditional basis.  Ms. Egnaczyk holds professional certification in the area of Speech and Language Disabilities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Ms. Egnaczyk regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education.  Ms. Egnaczyk’s continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment.

  • Position: 1.0 FTE Speech Teacher
  • Certification: Speech and Language Disabilities
  • Tenure Area: Speech
  • Effective Date: September 1, 2019
  • Tenure Date: October 12, 2023 November 23, 2023
  • Salary: Step 3 of the current CTA Contract

C.   THAT the Board of Education amend item VII (P) of the February 12, 2020 minutes to read as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District appoints Michele Culletto to a four-year conditional term in the tenure area of Science effective March 16, 2020 and expiring on March 15, 2024 December 28, 2024 on an emergency conditional basis.  Ms. Culletto holds Professional Certification in the areas of General Science 7-12 ext., Chemistry 7-12, and Biology 7-12.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to of both a statement from Ms. Culletto regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education.  Ms. Culletto’s continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment.

Michele Culletto

  • Position: 1.0 FTE Science
  • Certification: General Science 7-12 ext., Chemistry 7-12, and Biology 7-12
  • Tenure Area: Science
  • Effective Date: March 16, 2020
  • Tenure Date: March 15, 2024 December 28, 2024
  • Salary: Step 4 of the current CTA Contract

D.  Aaron Boudreau

  •  Position: 0.2 FTE Physical Education
  • Certification: Physical Education
  • Effective Date: February 10, 2022 through March 31, 2022
  • Salary: Step 5 of the current CTA contract

E. THAT the Board of Education approves a salary increase due to additional teaching assignments for the following individuals for the 2021-2022 school year:

Keith Fischer – 0.2 FTE as per CTA contract –Special Education (1.2 FTE total)
Effective: February 28, 2022 through June 30, 2022 (grant-funded)

F.   THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individuals to the Substitute Teacher and Tutor list:

Effective:  March 3, 2022

NON-INSTRUCTIONAL

G. THAT the Board of Education amend item VII(K) of the July 21, 2021 Minutes to read as follows:

THAT the Board of Education establishes the following rates of pay for the following positions for the 2021-22 school year:

Part-Time Safety Officers

Years of service = 1 through 3 1 through 5 per hour $17.00 $20.00
Years of service = 4 through 6 6 plus $18.00 $23.00
Years of service = 7 through 11 $19.00
Years of service = 12 plus $20.00

H. THAT the Board of Education create the following non-instructional position:

1.0 FTE Teacher Aide
Effective:  February 28, 2022 through June 30, 2022

I. THAT the Board of Education appoint the following individuals to the coaching positions listed below for the 2021-2022 school year, contingent upon acceptable program enrollment:

J. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Patricia Kelly to the position of Part-Time Teacher Aide subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on a conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a temporary appointment.

K. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Amya Sousis to the position of Part-Time Teacher Aide subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on a conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a temporary appointment.

  • Position: Part-Time Teacher Aide (HH)
  • Effective Date: March 3, 2022 through June 30, 2022
  • Salary: $13.25 per hour

L. THAT the Board of Education accepts the resignation of Andrea Bastian from her position as Teacher Aide (VS).

Effective: March 4, 2022

M. RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby corrects the resolution previously approved by the Board at its meeting of August 29, 2018 and, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, hereby appoints Rebecca La Forest to a four (4) year appointment as a STEAM Teacher in the tenure area of Industrial Arts effective September 1, 2018 and terminating August 31, 2022, contingent upon compliance with Education Law Sections 2509, 3012-c and/or 3012-d.  Ms. LaForest holds Professional Certifications in the areas of Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist, Students with Disabilities – Grades 7-12 Mathematics, Mathematics 7-12, and Technology Education.

N. THAT the Board of Education amend item VIII (N) of the August 1, 2018 minutes to read as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District appoints Nicole Lassone to a four-year conditional term in the tenure area of Mathematics effective September 1, 2018 and expiring on August 31, 2022 April 18, 2023 on an emergency conditional basis.  Ms. Lassone holds Initial Certification in the area of Mathematics 7-12.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Ms. Lassone regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education.  Ms. Lassone’s continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment.

  • Position: 1.0 FTE Mathematics
  • Certification: Mathematics 7-12
  • Tenure Area: Mathematics
  • Effective Date: September 1, 2018
  • Tenure Date: August 31, 2022 April 18, 2023
  • Salary: Step 3 of the current CTA Contract

O. THAT the Board of Education accepts the resignation of John DeMio from his position as Part-time School Safety Officer

P. THAT the Board of Education accepts the resignation of Victoria DeChiaro from her position as Part-time Teacher Aide (VS).

Q.  THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individuals to the Substitute Teacher and Tutor list:

R. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Sierra Diotte to the position of Part-Time Teacher Aide subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on a conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a temporary appointment.
