27 eighth grade students have been selected to comprise the fourth cohort of the district’s Future Ready Pathways program.
“We are really excited to welcome these students into FRP,” program coordinator Chris Fournier said. “We had a very strong pool of candidates this year and each of these students has earned their way in through hard work and a desire for an even bigger challenge.”
The program, which is funded by the New York State Education Department’s Smart Transfer grant, is a collaboration between the district, Hudson Valley Community College and the University at Albany. It gives students the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits before graduating high school, all at no cost to families.
To apply, students wrote two essays, provided teacher references, and must carry at least an 80 percent overall average.
