Students at Van Schaick Grade School on Friday looked to the future as the school hosted College Day. Current college students (all Cohoes grads!) stopped by for virtual and in-person visits to discuss their collegiate experiences and answer questions. Van Schaick teachers wore sweatshirts representing their respective alma maters.
Isabelle DeChiaro, a senior at Siena, visited Mrs. Smith’s 2nd grade classroom where she was once a student.
“We hope that by hearing from college students, they will believe that college is an option for them in the future,” Principal Jacqueline DeChiaro said. “We want our students to know that the skills they’re learning right now will help them throughout their school career.”
Colleges and universities represented included HVCC, Russell Sage, Siena, UAlbany, Fredonia, Brockport, George Washington, Marist and Hartford.
