Cohoes Middle School stands as a hub of educational excellence in the heart of Cohoes. Guided by our motto, Work Hard. Be Nice., we are dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of learners during their critical early adolescent years.
Located in a vibrant community just north of Albany, our school serves students in grades 6-8, providing a supportive and dynamic learning environment.
Our dedicated team of educators is committed to creating a challenging, yet compassionate atmosphere where students can explore their potential, develop critical-thinking skills, and build a strong foundation for future academic success.
Cohoes Middle School is more than just an educational institution – it is a nurturing community that empowers young minds, celebrates individual strengths, and prepares students to become lifelong learners and positive contributors to their community and the world beyond.
Sincerely,
Kyle McFarland
Attendance
Regular attendance is a necessary requirement for the learning process. The intent of this requirement is to encourage good student attendance and discourage the frequent, unnecessary and casual absences that characterize the attendance records of some students. It is hoped that its implementation will serve to improve student school attendance and thus improve the student’s academic and social achievement as a member of the school community.
In the case of a student’s absence from school, parents are required to call the main attendance office at (518) 237-4131 by 8:00 a.m. to inform us of the reason for the student’s absence.
Please note that a written excuse must be provided and brought to the attendance office by the student upon his/her return to school. If not, the student’s absence from school is deemed unexcused, and the student may expect to receive the appropriate disciplinary action including, but not limited to: detention, loss of privileges, or contact of outside agencies.
Learn more about our Attendance policy, including what is considered an excused absence vs. an unexcused absence.
